Amazon's robot worries its employees... Is it losing their livelihood?

Amazon, the e-commerce company, has unveiled a robot that uses artificial intelligence, in a move that may lead to the layoff of a large number of the company's employees, as it performs their work.

And "Amazon" published on its official website a picture of the huge robot, which it said is capable of handling thousands of different goods.

She added that the robot, called "Spiro", simplifies the process of packing the goods requested by customers, by moving them before the process of filling and sending them.

In a message of reassurance to employees, "Amazon" considered the new invention a major technological development that supports its employees, so that they work in a more intelligent, efficient and safe way, and make them focus their time and energy on other things.

And that's not all, as she said that the new robot will help them create 700 new jobs.

But it does not seem to be the case, as the British newspaper "Daily Mail" said that this technology may one day lead to the place of warehouse workers.

The new robot, which looks like an arm, relies on a combination of artificial intelligence, computer vision and other technical tools to carry out the task of packing goods.

This robot has the ability to deftly pick up goods that vary in size, shape and texture.

Although Amazon excels in the automation sector, the new robot is able to distinguish between many goods, which puts the company in a position to let go of its workers.

Just last year, using current automation technology, company workers were able to pick, store and pack 5 billion packages, or 13 million packages annually.

The robotic arm has the ability to identify 65 percent of the total assets in the company's warehouses, according to the American "CNBC" network.

And the employees before that were the ones who were able to do this task with high accuracy.

For its part, Bloomberg Agency says that it has noticed that many goods are still placed on mesh shelves, which means that they will not be compatible with this robotic arm.

However, she emphasized that this new invention may replace the workforce in "Amazon" one day.

It is not yet clear when the new technology will be integrated into Amazon's warehouses.
