In order to obtain the blue verification mark, Twitter imposes a time limit.

On Thursday, Twitter made a change to the page for its monthly subscription service, Twitter Blue, which now says that new accounts can't sign up for the service until a certain amount of time has passed.

The new version of the American social media giant's Twitter Blue service was released in early November. It allows anyone who pays $ 7.99 per month to obtain the blue authentication mark, which was previously only available to politicians, celebrities, and influencers.

However, as soon as the mark became available last week, a flurry of accounts began posing as politicians, brands, or celebrities. The service was only suspended by Twitter; however, Elon Musk, the company's new owner, later announced that it would relaunch on November 29.

The Twitter Blue page now states that new accounts will not be able to sign in until 90 days have passed since they were created. This prevents anyone from creating a new account and receiving a blue verification mark immediately in anticipation of that time.Impersonation may decrease as a result of this.

In an effort to reduce fake verified accounts, the Twitter Blue service imposed a condition on those who wanted to subscribe earlier this month—the account had to have been created before November 9, 2022, the date on which the service was launched—despite the fact that the service did not specify a time frame before subscribers could subscribe.

Under Musk's leadership, Twitter continues to allow users to obtain the blue verification mark for a monthly subscription and is investigating all options to prevent its misuse. This includes Musk's earlier statement that it will not be possible to change the name of a verified account. Anyone who tries to change the name will lose the authentication mark until Twitter verifies that the new name does not violate the terms of service.

Musk also stated that the name of any parody account should explicitly state this.

Additionally, the brand-new Twitter Blue service page states that the company may, at any time and without prior notice, impose waiting periods on new accounts wishing to acquire the blue verification mark in the future.which essentially brings the documentation policy back to its previous state.
