Jack Dorsey apologizes in response to Twitter's mass layoffs

Jack Dorsey, co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, responded to Elon Musk's mass layoffs, saying, "He takes responsibility for why everyone is in this situation; Because he developed the company very quickly.”

Jack Dorsey lauds the resilience of Twitter employees:

Jack Dorsey wrote a blog post Saturday praising the resilience of the staff, saying: “Twitter people are strong and resilient, and will always find a way no matter how difficult this moment is. I know a lot of people are mad at me. I take responsibility for why everyone is in this situation: You have grown the size of the company so quickly. I apologize for that.”

He added, “I am grateful to everyone who has worked at Twitter and loved it. I don't expect it to be reciprocal at this moment or ever...I understand that."

Last Friday, Elon Musk laid off as many as 3,700 Twitter employees - nearly half of the company's employees - and it affected all departments of the company, and there are fears that this will harm the company's efforts to moderate the content.

“He has no choice but to reduce the company's workforce,” Musk said. The company loses more than $4 million a day.”

Despite the layoffs of so many employees, Musk said, "the company's policies have remained completely unchanged."

Twitter employees expressed their anger at the dismissals via tweets in Twitter, and some of them decided to escalate the matter by filing a lawsuit against Twitter.

Meanwhile, a host of major brands have stopped their Twitter ads in recent days, including: Volkswagen, General Motors, Pfizer and Audi. Some advertisers have also responded to pressure from rights groups to boycott the platform in the wake of layoffs and an increase in hate speech.

It is worth noting that Jack Dorsey founded the Twitter platform in 2006 with: William Evans, Biz Stone, and (Noah Glass) Noah Glass. Dorsey has served as Twitter's CEO two separate times. After being fired in 2007, he returned as CEO of the company again in 2015.

Jack Dorsey lasted as CEO of the company for 6 years, and announced in November 2021 that he had left his position as CEO, and appointed Parag Agrawal, then chief technology officer, to replace him, and after his departure from the company, he endorsed Musk's acquisition of the company.

When Musk began buying Twitter last April, Dorsey said, "Musk was the only solution I could trust, and his acquisition of the company was the right choice."
