Zoom launches email and calendar service

In an effort to grow its business, Zoom announced a beta launch of its email and calendar software on Tuesday at its Zoomtopia customer conference.

Zoom was among the most prominent beneficiaries of the Corona pandemic during 2020, and 2021, and during the third quarter of 2021, the company was growing at a tremendous rate of 369 percent, but this did not continue with the lifting of restrictions that were imposed during the pandemic days, and during the second quarter of 2022, The company's growth rate was estimated at only 8 percent.

Because the company realizes that it is not beneficial for it to focus its business on video conferencing only, it has sought during the past period to expand its business. Now I decided to expand into the field of email and calendar.

"With Zoom Mail and Zoom Calendar, users no longer need to leave the Zoom platform to access their email and calendar," the company said in a statement. "Popular email and calendar services will be integrated directly into Zoom, meaning users can quickly access their contacts and schedules, and get their work done more efficiently," she added.

Zoom announced that its email and calendar service will allow users to have a dedicated domain and end-to-end encryption. She explained that the hosted Zoom service would not be like Google's Gmail service, but rather would be more like a private platform with a small group of people sharing email.

This should help reduce spam and annoying emails drastically because only a limited number of people have access to the platform.

For those who use Gmail from Google and Outlook from Microsoft, the new email and calendar service will be free for users of both the free and paid video conferencing service. And for those who want Zoom to manage everything, it will be available as part of a Zoom One Pro subscription, or any higher subscription plan, but at no additional cost.

It is noteworthy that Zoom did not only announce the email and calendar service, but rather announced a new service called Zoom Spots, a virtual workspace within Zoom that will be launched in early 2023.

The company explained that it is a fixed and integrated visual communication space in the Zoom platform, and it comes to help enhance discussions between colleagues as if they were working in a real office, and any employee could join it while working to communicate with other colleagues.
