How to Set Up IPTV in 2026: A Step-by-Step Beginner's Guide
Published 15 January 2026
What You'll Need
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- An active YAS4K subscription (or a free 24h trial)
- Your M3U URL and credentials (sent via WhatsApp)
- A compatible device (Smart TV, Firestick, Android Box, phone, or PC)
- A stable internet connection (at least 10 Mbps for HD, 25 Mbps for 4K)
Step 1: Choose Your Player App
The player app is the interface you'll use to watch channels. Here are the top recommendations:
TiviMate (Best for Android & Firestick)
- Clean interface with EPG (Electronic Programme Guide)
- Supports multiple playlists
- Free version available; Premium unlocks multi-screen and recording
IPTV Smarters Pro (Great for beginners)
- Available on Android, iOS, Smart TV, and PC
- Simple setup wizard
- Supports Xtream Codes login format
IBO Player (Smart TV focused)
- Optimised for large screens
- Built-in VOD browser
Step 2: Install Your App
On Firestick
- Go to Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options
- Enable Apps from Unknown Sources
- Open the Downloader app and enter:
https://troypoint.com/tivimate - Follow the installation wizard
On Android Box / Phone
- Open the Google Play Store
- Search for TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro
- Install and open the app
On Smart TV (Samsung / LG)
- Open the app store on your TV
- Search for IPTV Smarters or SS IPTV
- Install and launch
Step 3: Enter Your Credentials
Once your app is installed:
- Open the app and select Add Playlist or Add New Provider
- Choose M3U URL as the input method
- Paste the M3U link sent to you via WhatsApp
- Give your playlist a name (e.g. "YAS4K")
- Tap Add or Save
The app will load your channels — this usually takes 30–60 seconds depending on connection speed.
Step 4: Set Up the EPG (Programme Guide)
An EPG shows what's on now and coming up next, like a TV schedule.
- In TiviMate, go to Settings > EPG
- Enable Load EPG automatically
- The EPG data is embedded in your M3U — no separate URL needed with YAS4K
Step 5: Watch Your First Channel
- Browse to the Live TV section
- Filter by category (Sports, Movies, News, etc.)
- Select a channel and press Play
- Adjust video quality if needed via the player settings
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Buffering or freezing
- Check your internet speed (minimum 10 Mbps for HD)
- Switch from Wi-Fi to a wired Ethernet connection
- In TiviMate: Settings > Player > increase buffer size
EPG not loading
- Force-close the app and reopen
- Go to EPG settings and tap Reload EPG
- If using Firestick, clear app cache (Settings > Applications > TiviMate > Clear Cache)
Channels not loading
- Check your subscription is active
- Verify the M3U URL is pasted correctly (no spaces)
- Contact YAS4K support on WhatsApp for a playlist refresh
Tips for the Best Experience
- Use Ethernet over Wi-Fi for 4K content — it's significantly more stable
- Enable hardware decoding in your player settings for smoother 4K playback
- Keep the app updated — player updates often fix buffering issues
- Create favourites for channels you watch most — saves browsing time
With YAS4K, setup is instant. Once you've done it once, you'll never look at a cable subscription the same way again.
